Jan 04, 2017 Auditing Remote Desktop Services Logon Failures on Windows Server 2008 – RDP Security Layer or Bust. Windows Server 2008 can be configured to record detailed information about failed logon attempts with a Logon Type of 10, corresponding to a Terminal Server/Remote Desktop Services session.
Note that this question is not about remote desktop automatic login, but windows automatic login where it doesn't prompt you for a username/password when the computer starts. Also I know this isn't the right forum, but last time I asked a complicated question in the 'windows problems' forums, I was told to come ask developers because the people there won't know how to help.
Basically I have a console program I want running all the time. I can't make it a service because it uses outlook interop. The computer crashes a lot, because it's an old piece of. So I turned on automatic login so if it crashes and reboots, the program will come back (it runs on startup).
The problem is that it's my server box so i only access it through remote desktop. When I do this, it logs out the automatically logged in user and logs in as the remote desktop user instead, even though they're both using the same account. So my question is, is there any way that the automatic login can use the same 'desktop' as the remote desktop?
Or to put it another way, that the remote desktop can use the same 'desktop' as the automatic login? Edit: Really? It censors c-r-a-p? Am I gonna get in trouble for evading the filters now?
Thanks for this. For other using this instead of the MS powershell script.
You can use a credential object to pass in the password if you've collected that like I had in a script when running against an Azure build script.$password = $cred.GetNetworkCredential.PasswordFor example: RDPecho 'Connecting to ' + $vm.Name$Server=$nic.IpConfigurations0.PrivateIpAddress$username = $cred.UserName$rdppassword = $cred.GetNetworkCredential.Passwordcmdkey /generic:TERMSRV/$Server /user:$username /pass:$rdppasswordmstsc /v:$Serverecho 'You MUST be on the VPN to connect to the private IP'.
